What reasons make Yao Ming succeed as a basketball player? Firstly Yao parents’ genetics provide a good basis for his growth. Yao Ming was born in a basketball family. The mother is the former of National Team. His father is a basketball player of the Shanghai team. Their basketball experience has great effect on Yao Ming and provides a very good condition for Yao Ming to develop in NBA. Secondly, Yao Ming’s quality and professional skills also are very important reasons for his success. Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said: “Yao Ming has a God-given great height, but his success lies in acquired learning and constant efforts”. Compared to other players, Yao Ming’s biggest advantage is to know what should be done and what should not be done. As Chinese, we are proud of Yao Ming.

Matt: Good evening and welcome to the Toyota Centre for tonight’s big game between the Houston Rockets and the Chicago Bulls. My name is Matt Fox and I’m your commentator for tonight’s game. I’m here with Dan Watson, a local journalist who’s been following the Rockets for many years now. Dan, are you excited about tonight’s game?

Dan: Good evening, Matt. Good evening, everyone. Yes, Matt, I am very excited about tonight’s game. I’m really looking forward to it, and I think we are going to see a great game between two very exciting teams.

Matt: Yes, the Rockets and the Bulls are really hot at the moment.

Dan: They sure are, Matt! And I think one of the main reasons for this is having Chinese star Yao Ming on the team. He’s been absolutely outstanding for the Rockets this season.

Matt: As a Rockets fan, you must be delighted.

Dan: I am delighted, Matt, but a little nervous.
