1. Ss know some skills of listening:taking notes, catching the main idea to deal with the information.

2. Students study some daily expressions from the listening material: scanning for picking up the key information to complete a Thinking map.

3.Students read different American school clubs for fun.

4.Students can clearly talk about their interests in their study life. By inspiring and encouraging them to think and to learn, they can be more thoughtful and adaptabe to the social requirements.

Teaching Difficulties:

2.Make a list of the articles each editor is planning.The students may unable to write a complete idea from the speaker..

Teaching Methods:

Use a thinking map to help the students catch the main idea.

Team-work to make the students more active.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Lead-in

Talk about the clubs in our school , show some activities students do in them. Encourage the students vote for the Poem Club on weixin platform.

Step 2. Vocabulary study

1. Let Ss use the questions on page 19 and the introductions on page 20 to catch some information to discuss the question:

What kind of students would be attracted by﹨intereted in the clubs?

2. Give Ss some notes about the usage of the words.

(1) 注意astonished与 astonishing的区别：astonished的主语是人，astonishing的主语是物。翻译“这个社团使我十分惊讶”，如下：

I was astonished at the club.

=The club was astonishing.

(2) issue
