Book 7 Module 4 All You Need to Know about Hip Hop TypeReading for grammarTeaching objects: Students from Grade 2The Analysis of Teaching MaterialThe reading material focuses on the history of hip hop and analyzes the reasons for the popularity of hip hop. I combine reading with grammar in this lesson. By fast reading, students give answers to four questions. The last two answers consist of noun phrases leading adverbial clause of time. I guide the students to discover grammar by themselves and apply grammar by speaking and writing practice. Through the learning of this lesson, the students can draw three conclusions about the noun phrases leading adverbial clause of time. Using task-based teaching method, communicative language teaching method and cooperative group learning method, the students can understand the grammatical rules and apply the rules to practice. Teaching Aims 1. Knowledge objects
(1) Learn how to sum up the grammatical rules about the adverbial clause of time with noun phrases.
(2) Use the grammar skillfully in both written and spoken English.
2. Ability objects
(1) Improve the ability of recognizing the function of some noun phrases when used as conjunctions.
(2) Improve the ability of recognizing the structure of the adverbial clause of time with noun phrases.
3. Moral objects
Raise the students’ cooperation awareness in their study by group work.The Analysis of studentsThe students are from Grade two of senior high school. They have already had a basic understanding of noun phrases leading adverbial clause of time. However, they haven’t had a systematic and thorough understanding of the rules. So the students have difficulty in applying the rules into practice. Besides, some students think that grammar is boring so they may show little interest in the lesson. To get all the students actively involved in the lesson, I design a series of interesting tasks including talking about what happens in several video clips and rewriting a love letter to mom.Teaching Approaches and Learning StrategiesIn order to create a pleasant English learning atmosphere, communicative approach, task-based approach, multi-media assistant teaching approach and cooperative group learning approach will be adopted in this class.
Students will adopt the learning strategy of participation, cooperation, exploration. They can take part in the activities and finish the task in groups, improve their integrative language using ability. 1. Let the students observe the last two answers of the four questions.
(1)The moment I heard it, I knew it was a completely new kind of music.
(2) The first time rap artist recorded their music, musicians recorded the backing tracks in the studio and the rappers added their vocals later.
2. Guide the students to know noun phrases the moment and the first time can be used as conjunction.
