Step 1 Revision
Check the homework. Lead Ss to speak key words in their homework. If possible, show some key words on the projector. The whole class review them together.
Step 2 Introduction of Dali ethnic colorful culture
T: In this unit, we’ve learnt some passages about ethnic minorities. Now, when you want to introduce an ethnic, what aspects and words should you introduce?
S1: Language, culture and architecture.
S2: Population, main crops.
S3: Native region, economy and art.
T: This lesson, we’ll write a paragraph to introduce your life in Dali ethnic group. Please look at the form on page 66. There is some information to help you. At the same time, you can use some patterns in the passage “The Bai Ethnic Group” on page 65.
Step 3 Group discussion and Jigsaw writing.
Give the Ss ten minutes and then check their work. Ss have 2 parts of tasks. Team members will cooperate with each other by trying key words to make a jigsaw writing.
Step 4 Presentation of Ss writing work
Give Ss more chances to show their writing. Small gifts will be given to Ss as an encouragement.
