There are 55 ethnic minorities in China. It’s vital to have a good knowledge of them and respect them and the culture. This module focuses on ethnic culture, and this period is mainly about the Reading and Vocabulary(2), which is a description of the Bai ethnic group concerning diverse aspects. Another article is about the Hani people, in which we can generalize the structure of describing an ethnic group. Both are easy to understand. So they are designed to pave the way for writing.
Step 1 Leading-in
Review language points and have an oral presentation
Step 2 Reading and analyzing
Read the first article to get the various aspects in describing an ethnic group
Step 3 Reading and generalizing
Read the second article to get the basic structure in describing an ethnic group
Step 4 Summarizing and writing
Write a composition to present an ethnic minority. Work in groups to finish and discuss it.
Step 5 Presenting and commenting
Show works of different groups on the screen with the help of a phone.
Make objective comments on the writing.
Step 6 Homework
To finish the composition, or to make an introduction of a Chinese ethnic minority to their foreign friend Peter.
