Step 1: Lead in
Ask students to watch a short video and talk about this phenomenon.
设计意图:通过一个有趣的视频引入,吸引学生的注意力,激发学生的兴趣,针对英语总是学不好、考试总是考不过这样一样较普遍的现象,引起学生的共鸣。通过总结原因,强调词汇的重要性,引出本节课复习词汇的话题。
Step 2: Warming up
Show some words and phrases on the screen.
Ask a question: How do you memorize these words and phrases in book 7?
设计意图:列举选修七的一些单词短语,让学生自己谈谈怎么记这些单词,让学生互相了解一些不同的单词记忆法,强调可以靠一些策略更加高效快捷地记词汇。
Step 3: Review vocabulary strategies
1. Homophone
(1) Show 2 examples (ambition, clinic)
(2) Give students 4 pictures and ask them to guess the words (moustache, ambulance, pest, umbrella).
2. Compound
(1) Show an example (outgoing)
(2) Give students 4 pictures and ask them to guess the compound words (teamwork, motherland, mailbox, airmail).
(3) Show students 3 words (outspoken, meatball, bookmark) and ask them to guess the meaning using this strategy.
3. Affix and Root
(1) Show students some words, affixes and roots and ask them to make some new words. Ask some students to give their answers.
(2) Use more examples to draw a conclusion.
4. Synonym
Ask students to match the words or phrases with the same meaning.
5. Antonym
Ask students to find out the antonyms of the given words in the form.
6. Polysemy
