Learning situation analysis

Material interpretation(教材解读) : Book 8 is an elective textbook, but it plays an increasingly important role in the material system. The words, phrases and sentence patterns are no longer the focus; instead, the cultivation of thinking quality can’t be emphasized too much. Moreover, the relationship between failure and success is one of the most frequently mentioned topics in our life, and how to view them keeps coming to our mind.

Analysis of students: After one and a half years’ learning at high school, the students can be quite familiar with the system of this learning material. It will be easier for them to cultivate self-learning ability and develop the multi-thinking and critical thinking, which exactly serve the needs of their self-development of English learning and also the requirement of the new English Curriculum Standard.

Teaching aims

Students can:

Get to know the main idea of the passage and improve reading ability

Have a deep thinking of the qualities one should have when facing difficulties
