2 Improve their reading skills.
Teaching Difficult Points:
Grasp the reading skills and analyse the reading material.
Teaching Procedures:
Step1:Revision
Review the words and phrases we learned last period. Ask Ss to give the Chinese meaning of each word.
Step2: Lead –in
Show some pictures of Antarctic, leading in the new passage.
Step3: Fast reading
Do Ex1 on Page 2. Ask the Ss to read the passage as quickly as they can and find the right title for each paragraph. Help them to grasp the skill---get key words.
Step4:Careful reading
Read the passage in detail. Read each paragraph carefully and do some exercises about each one.
Step5:Summary
Sum up the passage and fill in the blanks in the summary . Help the Ss to get some skills about filling in the blanks.
Step6: Exercise
If time enough, finish the exercises in their books.
Step7:Discussion
Discuss the question “ If you have the opportunity to travel to Antarctica, what should you do and what shouldn’t you do?”
Step8:Homework
According to this passage ,write an article about the Antarctica.
