Important Points: 1.To help the students to revise the usage of attributive clauses.
To help the students to summarize the key points of the attributive clauses.
Difficult Points: How to use the attributive clauses correctly.
Teaching procedure:
ⅠLead-in
Show the students some sentences and let them choose the parts of the speech, such
as adjective, numbers, pronouns, nouns and infinitive verb, making sure they know what can be used as attribute.
Definite the attribute and introduce other forms of attribute: -ing form and -ed form.
ⅡPractice
Ask the students to rewrite some sentences with the words and phrases from the box and make adjective phrases.
Co-operation. Let the students have a discussion and try to rewrite the sentences, using the infinitive, -ing form or -ed form.
Let the students find out attribute in a short passage. At the same time, make the students notice another form of the attribute—attributive clause.
Ⅲ Revision of the attributive clauses
Choose some of the students to fill in the blanks, which aims to make them remember as many things about the attributive clause as possible.
To revise the relative pronouns in attributive clauses: that, which, who, whom, whose, reminding the students to pay attention to the part that these words play in the clause.
A test which the students can finish by using their cell phones.
Check the answers to the questions and make sure the students really know how to use the proper relative pronouns.
To revise how to put the preposition before the relative pronouns.
To revise the usage of relative adverbs. By doing that, make the students grasp the differences between relative pronouns and relative adverbs.
To introduce a way to combine two sentences , making an attributive clause included in it.
Practice. Ask the students to rewrite the sentences and include the extra information.
