Teaching Objectives:
Language Knowledge: To learn some phrases and expressions, such as tension, force, reflect, destiny, sympathy, convey, consult, result in, to one’s sorrow, accuse sb of doing sth, philosophy, religious faiths, rational thought, personal dignity, violent passion, etc.
Language Skill: To consolidate students to use scanning and skimming skills more skillfully when reading for main idea and detailed information. To get students to try analyzing the hidden philosophy behind a story.
Emotion and Attitude: To get students to keep in mind the importance of building and staying positive and strong values , and let them feel involved and interested to learn more.
Cultural Awareness: To have a basic understanding of Taoist, and its profound effect on Western Literature.
The students analysis:
The students are of grade two from senior high. Sine this is the third period of this module, they have previewed pronunciation and meaning of some key words, but without deeper understanding of them. The good thing is that they have strong enough motives to learn more because of the exciting topic-- StarWars, though they have few opportunities to learn and talk about them in English.
Teaching Important Points and Difficult Points:
1. to make the students master the new words and expressions
2. to let the students express a story and its philosophy by applying new words and expressions
