I Pre-reading:

Ss enjoy the reading report from Group 1 and learn some useful information about the Tang Dynasty, Tang poetry and Tang poets.

II While-reading:

Activity 1: Skimming

Ss read the passage quickly and finish the following tasks:

1.To read and find out the topic sentence of each paragraph. < Underline them. >

2.To match the 6 paragraphs with the given titles:

Ss read Para. 1 aloud and answer the following comprehension questions:

2.Why was Tang known as a time of expansion?

3.Name the neighbouring countries of Tang.

< Intention > To lead Ss to discover the greatness of the Tang Dynasty by detailed reading and to know its influence on today’s China via the Silk Road.
