cultivate different cultural awareness and stimulate students’ love of English writing.

Students master the steps about writing a letter of invitation.

Teaching Difficult Points:

1. Stimulate students’ interest in English writing.

2. Help students write a letter of invitation logically.

Teaching Methods

In this class, I will lead in the lesson by a small talk at the start of the class. While students are writing, I will adopt the task-based teaching method and the way of process writing.

Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Lead-in

At the start of the class, I’ll lead in the class by a small talk to stimulate students’ interest in writing.

Step 2 Pre-writing

I design 2 tasks in this step to help students know the structure of a letter of invitation. First, I will ask students to read a wonderful letter and work with their parteners to find out main ideas of each paragraph and underline some beautiful sentences. Then, students are required to work in groups to write down more sentences that can be used in a letter of invitation. After this step, students will clearly know how to write a letter of invitation. Students’ cooperative ability and communicative ability can be well developed in this step.

Step 3 While-writing

In this step, students are required to write a letter of invitation by themselves. I will lead them to write the first paragraph orally, then give them 10 minutes to finish the rest. This step can help students develop their independent-learning ability.

Step 4 Post-reading

After students finish their writing, I will give them standards of evaluation. Students are required to exchange their writing with parteners and give a mark according to the standards of evaluation. Then i will share some letters with students to point some common mistakes.

Step 4 Homework

Ask students to polish their writing after class and hand in tomorrow morning.
