Teaching objectivesBy the end of the class, students will be able to:
identify the head noun, relative pronoun and its function in a sentence;
deduce the rules of relative pronouns from the given examples;
discover the functions of relative clauses;
define, modify and describe people or things by using relative clauses.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1- introduction to relative clauses
The teacher shows the following words on the blackboard, and asks students if they know their meanings.
一、概念: 在复合句中修饰名词或代词的句子.(在句子中作定语)
Harry Porter is a boy who has magic power.
指出关系代词(副词)在定语从句中的成份:
1.The man who came to our school is Mr. Wang.
( )
2.The girl (whom) I met is Lucy. ( )
3.A child whose parents are dead is called Tom. ( )
4.I like the book (which) you bought yesterday. ( )
设计意图:通过已学知识,引出新知识,指出本节课学习目标。
Step 2- rules of relative pronouns
Activity 1:
Teacher explains how to use “that”、which”、who”、“whom” as relative in the attributive clause.
Teacher analyzes each sentence and show the rule one by one on the screen.
.which:在从句中作主语或宾语,指物。
