1.Reading an English play, a form of literature, probably is a frustrating reading experience because it is full of detailed information and seemingly loose structure. Therefore,it will be demanding for students to contract the play ,so will be the understanding of the changing feelings and attitudes of characters involved in the play.
2.Writing out the letter for the purpose of breaking the ice of parents and sons is a challenging task for students because handling the conflict is more than a barrier in language. Or rather ,It is a barrier bound to overcome mentally in their lives. The LETTER part,therefore,is a demanding task for students.
Lead-in
A series of questions about the growing pains are raised to arouse students and inspire the imagination.(The growing pains is used to speak of many difficulties teenagers many teenagers may experience .It can be from teachers, friends and parents)
Do you love your parents?
Do you sometimes quarrel with your parents?
Have they ever punished or scolded you when it wasn’t your fault?
What are you always arguing?
Do you think you have a good relationship with your parents?
Do children nowadays always listen to their parents’ instruction?
Brainstorm
Ask students to discuss and contract the growing pains from parents as following: Expectations (e.g. study) /Restrictions (e.g. Dos and Don'ts)/Communication
