译林2003课标版《Reading(1):Dying to be thin…》集体备课教案优质课下载

to help students improve their reading abilities of skimming and scanning to a certain level.

Teaching procedures:

Step1 Lead-in

Show the students some pictures and ask them to answer the following questions:

● what do you think of the boy in the picture?

● Whom do you like better, the thin or the fat? Why?

Which ways do the girl choose to lose weight?

Step 2 Pre-reading

1. Can you guess what do the title of “Dying to be thin”mean ?

Ask the students to look at the title and predict what will be talked about in the text. (Who, what, how, why, the results…)

Step 3 Reading

1. Fast reading

Ask the students to read the text fast and try to figure out the main idea of each email.

Match the main idea of each e-mail.

the 1st e-mail Amy was recovering from liver failure thanks to Li Dong, who selflessly donate part of his liver to her.

the 1st e-mail Zhou Ling was sorry to hear about Amy’s problems and hoped that she as well as all the others who’d like to lose weight could value the importance of health.

the 1st e-mail In order to lose weight, Amy takes weight-loss pills and become slimmer and slimmer.

2. Detailed reading

Let the students read the first email paying attention to some detailed information and then finish some exercises.

Task 1 the first email

Read the first email carefully and find the answers to the following questions.

Why does Amy want to lose weight?

How does she lose weight?

What's the result?
