After this class, students will be able to learn some words concerning health and body shape.
After this class, students will be able to use reading skills like prediction and word meaning guessing ,the use of “however, but” by reading three emails.
After this class, students will be able to realize the importance of health and real meaning of beauty by learning about main character Amy’s weight loss experience through reading the three emails.

How to arouse students’ awareness of real beauty and the importance of health

How to guide the students to apply the reading skills mentioned in reading.
How to guide the students to use the reading information attained to get their own thoughts across easily to the others and understand the real meaning of beauty.

Step1 Lead-in
First, let students enjoy a very beautiful song called Yesterday once more. Get students to know Karen Carpenter who died of Anorexia Nervosa .Lead students to today’s topic- Dying to be thin.
Then, show two pictures of myself. Students give advice on how to lose weight.

Students go through the first e-mail and answer the following questions.
What did Amy use to do ?
What is she taking now?
Why did Amy decide to take weight-loss pills?
How does she feel now?
