Analysis of learning condition
The students are from grade one in senior high school. As high school students, they have achieved certain English levels. Therefore various in-class activities should be well organized so that the students can take part in. In this way, the students are supposed to develop their abilities both in reading and in listening and speaking as well. Also, tables are used to help the students to find useful information in the text. More pair work and group work activities are designed for students to learn to cooperate with one another in the group. Besides, exercises in different forms are designed to help the students consolidate the usage of new words and phrases as well as language points.

Knowledge aims:
Learn some useful words and phrases: figure, contain, worth, harmful, chemical , be dying to, work out, take weight-loss pills, be ashamed of, recover from liver failure, follow one’s advice, damage one’s health, be embarrassed about, go on a diet…
Learn some important sentence structures: 1) You look great as you are. 2) Nothing is more important than health.
Ability aims:
Enable the students to catch the main idea, the structure and some details of the passage.
Raise students’ reading abilities by focusing on language points and grasp the new usage of some important words and phrases in the text through language practice.
Moral aims:
Encourage the students to learn to discuss the different ways of losing weight and having a slim figure.
Develop the students’ sense of cooperation and competition.
Teaching important and difficult points
1. Help the students to learn about the relationship between appearance and health and search for as many healthy ways as possible to lose weight and keep a slim figure.
2. Help the students to learn to use some of the new words, phrases and sentences in Reading passage.
3. Help the students to learn to write an email with the learned language points.
Teaching methods
1. Pair work and group discussion.
2. Asking-and-answering activity to check students’ understanding of the content.
3. Task-based in class activities.

Teaching preparation
1. Correct the students’ homework to check whether the students have some difficult points to understand in the reading part.
