Step 1: Lead-in
Lead Ss to the topic by a sound and ask Ss to guess where it might come from.
Give the answer by showing a short video.
Qs: What do you think of mysteries? (pair work)
Step 2: Reading
Ask Ss to read the text loudly.
Step 3: Skimming and Scanning (pair work)
Ask Ss to fill in the blanks based on the passage.
Step 4: Discussion
Ask Ss to talk about one question ‘Do you believe that the creatures really exist? ’ and lead in the scientist’s point of view and future hope.
Step 5: General Understanding of the Text
Ask Ss to figure out the structure of the text and match the parts with the main ideas.
Step 6: Production and Presentation
Tell Ss a suggested structure of a mystery story and the steps they need to follow when writing the story. One storyteller from each group is supposed to come to the front and share their story with the whole class.
Homework Ask Ss to polish their story and share it with the whole class.
