Analysis of the text and the students
This is a letter Toby wrote to his friend Aihua about his summer holiday trip. In this unit, we introduce and explain informal letters about nature scenery. All the activities involve checking and exchanging students' reading abilities. Students are expected to gain an overall understanding of the article and improve their abilities to solve problems in examinations.
The students in our class have strong interests in English. We talked about travelling yesterday, and their curiosities were greatly aroused.
Teaching difficulties
Detailed reading. It is difficult for the students to understand the details in the letter. In order to solve this problem, I design several tasks for them. All the tasks will help them to understand the details in the letter and improve their problem solving abilities.
