The article is an informal letter about Toby’s travel plan with his brother. A general introduction about their routes in Africa and adventure activities are presented. Equipped with background information about Africa, students are expected not only to grasp the main idea of the informal letter, but also to identify the features of an informal letter.

After the passage, let the students be aware that adventurous spirit is very important not only in their study, but also in their future life.

(二)学生分析:

1、本阅读材料具体涉及阅读策略—--了解文章体裁:非正式信笺的有关知识。把握文章的整体结构,培养学生的分析、概括水平;

2、在与学科整合活动中,让学生体验英语的实用性;

3、在语言实践中,培养学生行文的严谨态度和概括能力;

4、在学生完成教材内容后,培养学生的在学习和生活中的探索精神和创新能力;

(三)教学理念:

本次教学活动通过创设一定的情景,采用探究学习和合作学习的方式组织教学。在教学活动中,通过教师的组织,引导,帮助,增强学生的创新意识,培养学生的探索精神和创造能力,提高自主学习,自我评价的能力,使学生在自主学习的基础上,体验、模仿、探究、合作以及运用等学习方法,创造性地完成本课的学习并加以拓展的目的。
