Lead-in: Present some pictures of places of interest to lead in.
Now let’s read part A to see what Colin wants to take with him and whether Colin forgets these things or not.
Activity 1: collective work Help Colin to prepare items for the adventure holiday ( Students read part A) Colin will also take the following items in Part B, to make his adventure holiday comfortable, happy and safe. Activity 2: individual work Do exercise C to consolidate the words just learnt and check answers. Give necessary explanations where needed.
Activity 3: pair work Tell what happened on the second day of the journey according to the 5 pictures. (This step is meant to help consolidate the newly-learnt words, to train students’ ability of observation and ability to express in the target language.)
Activity 4: group work Choose 3 from the items given help Toby and Colin to survive on an unknown island.
Homework
Students are asked to write a short passage to narrate the experience in the desert. Write a passage about Colin’s experience in the Sahara Desert, containing the following points: 1.) How the two brothers get separated from others. 2.) What items they need to survive in the desert and why (at least 4 items). 3.) How they survive and get rescued.
