Step 1 Lead in and brainstorming
1. Enjoy a song “be what you wanna be”
2. Do you know these jobs?
(Show some pictures of different people and ask them to tell the jobs they do.)
Step 2 Vocabulary learning
1. What is suffix used for?
Please look at the rules for word formation listed in the book. Add suffix to verbs, nouns or adjectives to form nouns. Write down more examples of each item in the form.
Have students make a summary.
2. Practice: finish Parts A and B
3. Do you know any other jobs?
Step 3 A game
First of all, I will divide you into 4 groups. Then I will give you some nouns concerning jobs. One of the students in each group will be asked to explain the words in body language and the group members will guess what the word is. The group that has the most words wins. Now here are the rules for the competition:
1. The student who comes to the front must face to the class.
2. The student chooses one number and can only explain the word in body language without mentioning it.
3. Each team must finish a task within 50 seconds.
4. Books must be closed.
