Analysis of the teaching materials
Firstly, let me analyse the teaching material of this lesson. This is the first lesson of unit1 from Advance with English modal 2. The topics of this lesson are about things that cannot be explained even by today’s science. These topics are not only interesting but also mysterious. In this lesson, I’ll lead the class talk about the unexplained things mentioned in and out of the textbook.
Analysis of the students
As we know, the students here are very poor in English, they are even hate of learning English. It’s hard to help them to learn the target language properly and effectively. So in this lesson I’ll use some pictures of the unexplained things to gain their attentions to the topics and arouse their interests by asking and answering questions. Encouage them to express their opinions boldly and imaginatively.
Teaching aims: Target language
There are 3 aims in this lesson, they are
To master the pronunciations and meanings of the following words and phrases: tale, unexplained, UFO,Yeti, Himalayas, Crop circles, Stonehenge, run into, track.
Help Ss practice spoken English.
Help Ss express their opinions boldly and imaginatively.

The important point of this lesson is to get the students to get to know something about the unexplained world and practice their spoken English. And the difficult points is how to help Ss express their opinions boldly and imaginatively.

Step 1: Lead- in (PPT 1)
Show pictures of some wonders of the world.
T: Look at these pictures. Do you know what are they and where are they?
Step2: Topics explanation (PPT 1) 2`
T: Today, our topics are not only interesting, but also a little mysterious. The title is “Tales of the unexplained”. Can you understand the meaning of the title? What’ s its Chinese meaning?
(Write down the words on the Bb: Tales of the unexplained)
(Get the class repeat after the teacher, then read the title together.)
