Analysis of students:
基本情况:学生为高一新生,基本都是农村家庭出身,英语学习的兴趣不是很浓厚,英语基础不太好。经过半个学期的了解,发现学生词汇量很少,大部分学生觉得记单词很困难,记不扎实,单词与意思对不上,相似的单词容易记混,记完马上又忘。由于词汇量少,学生的阅读能力较差,口语尤其薄弱。为了帮助学生用正确的方法记单词,学期初全班从音标开始学习,先是单个音标,再到拼读和拼写规律。现在大部分学生基本掌握,但要巩固和达到自己一看就能读的程度还需一定时间。
先前知识:学生在前一节课学习了reading部分boy missing, police puzzled的课文,对主人公Justin为何失踪充满了好奇,并进行了一系列的猜测和讨论。即将学习的word power部分的主题是太空探索,学生对太空有一定的好奇心,但是因为不太贴合生活实际,且可利用的学习资源缺乏,学生对这一主题的了解很有限。

Watch a live news report given by Liu Jiaying, a student in the class, releasing the latest news about the missing boy Justin Foster in Reading section, which we’ve just learned in the previous class.
Show Justin’s ask-for-help letter mentioned in the news report and invite one student to read it out.
设计意图:导入部分教师从上节课reading部分设计的悬念(贾斯丁如何失踪)入手,让学生以新闻播报的形式呈现贾斯丁离奇失踪这一新闻的最新报道,激起其他学生的好奇心。报道中提到失踪的贾斯丁写了一封信给妈妈。同学们对信的内容很好奇。教师呈现这封信,发现这是一封求助信。贾斯丁被一群奇怪的生物带走关在黑屋子里,产生后面通过完成任务,集齐四张拼图,营救贾斯丁的活动设计。

Read the speech in part A on p6 to get familiar with the history of space exploration and two famous astronauts, Yuri Gagarin and Neil Armstrong.
Find the missing information on three name cards based on the speech.
