(2) To improve students’ writing ability by mastering the noun clause.

2. Process and approach objectives: To cooperate with their partners, summarize and analyze the knowledge, test what they have learned in the exercise.

3. Emotion and attitude objectives: To learn the knowledge in an active way, know the connection between English knowledge, feel the happiness of gaining knowledge and develop a good habit of learning actively.

II Students analysis:

Compared with Senior Two and Senior Three students, students in Senior One lack the knowledge in sentences. For example, they don’t have a good command of the definition of subject, object, predicative and appositive and can’t locate them in noun clauses. They even can’t distinguish noun clauses from the other two types of clauses. For another thing, they think grammar is boring and difficult to learn.

III Teaching important points:

To master the function and types of noun clauses, the way of finding out noun clauses and the usage of conjunctions in noun clauses.

IV Teaching difficult points: To develop a good habit of learning actively.

V Teaching methodology: Task-based teaching approach and multimedia assistant teaching approach

VII Teaching procedures:

Step One: Greetings

Step Two: Lead-in

First,Create a situation by playing a video about the teacher’s favorite teacher.

After that, students read the sentences from the video:

1. One of his demands was that we should send our homework to him on time.

2. What he said in class was worth remembering.

3. He always thought how he could teach us better.

4. Before I wrote a paper, he often gave me a suggestion that I read more books.

Then, ask students what clause these sentences are. Meanwhile, state that students will have a competition in this class. If they answer the question well, they will be given a star.

设计说明:通过创设情境,使学生将语法知识与生活实际联系起来,激发了学生学习本课的兴趣。用比赛的形式穿插本堂课,更能激起学生参与教学活动的热情。

Step Three: Introduction to noun clauses

Introduce the function and types of noun clauses to students and use examples to explain each type.

Function: It is used as noun and as subject, object, predicative and appositive.

Types: the subject clause, the object clause, the predicative clause and the appositive clause.
