Step 1 Review and leading-in
e.g. HCY, a young man, is a popular singer, and he likes snacks.
1. Ask students to find out all the nouns in the sentence, then, to identify and summarize what parts of the sentence are these nouns used as. (Review the important skills mastered in last class)
2. Raise a question for students: if the nouns in the sentence are turned into sentences that are in the same places of the nouns, what are the sentences called? In this way, noun clause is introduced.
Step 2 Recognition of noun clause
1. Introduce the definition of noun clause to students. Next, have students to read it together.
名词性从句: 在复合句中起名词作用的句子叫名词性从句。
2. Have students to answer four questions one by one: What kind of noun clause is it when the clause works as the subject/ object/ predictive/ apposition of a sentence? Then subjective clause, object clause, predicative clause and appositive clause are introduced. Finally, ask four students to retell respectively the definition of each kind of noun clauses.
主语从句: 在主句中作主语的句子。 宾语从句: 在主句中作宾语的句子。
表语从句: 在主句中作表语的句子。 同位语从句: 在主句中作同位语的句子。
3. Show students four sentences. Each sentence includes a type of noun clause. Ask them questions: Can you distinguish what type of noun clause each noun clause is? Then, Students are required to have a discussion with each other before they speak out their answer. Finally, check the answer as the whole class.
Examples:
① What he sings is popular.
② Qi tian is what he sings.
③ Teenagers like what he sings.
