The project in this unit is designed to help students learn and use English through producing a TV show about how animals use their senses. The reading material about shark attacks will help students learn how sharks use their senses to survive dangers in their environment. The article is also a sample for students to learn how to talk about animals and their unique sense. In addition, they are also encouraged to search more useful information about the animals’ senses from the Internet or books. They can also visit a zoo or watch an animal documentary to find something useful. Different groups can choose their topics to make a TV show, in types of documentary, drama, cartoon and others. Each group member must work on a different part of the show. Then the representatives in each group will give a presentation in class. At last, students will learn how to cooperate and how to produce a TV show.
The purpose of this section is to let students use what they have learnt to finish a project by working together. In the course of doing the project, students will discuss the subject of their TV show and how the TV show will be produced, and decide what each of them will do in the project. They will research and select information for the TV show, and do some writing and drawing. If possible, they can use a video camera to shoot some scenes about the animal. Students are expected to assign roles to each group member, cooperate by working together and fulfill each part of the assignment. By doing this project, students will have a better understanding about animals’ senses, their living habitat, food, size or even some myths about them.
Ability goals
1.Enable the students to learn how to narrate the TV show in English.
2.Practice and improve their language skills of speaking and writing.
3.Train their ability of doing a research, learn how to search useful information from different resources and how to produce a TV show.

1.Establish a cooperation consciousness through the process of producing a TV show.
2.Increase the students’ confidence by giving the presentation to the whole class. 3.Let the students gain a sense of success in doing the project and learn to appreciate others.
Culture awareness goals
Get the knowledge about animals’ senses and increase the awareness of environment and animal protecting. After learning, students should know some safety tips while attacked by some dangerous animals.
Part II: Teaching procedures and ways
Step 1. Lead-in
1. Many animals are of great help to our daily lives or make great contributions to the development of science and technology. Can you list some of them?
Animals are friends of human beings. However, some animals will cause trouble or danger to us in some situations. For example, when they are hungry or when they feel themselves in danger. Do you know some dangerous animals on the land? (Some pictures are shown.) There are also some dangerous animals in the water. (Some pictures are shown.)
2. Show a picture of shark attacks and ask How much do you know about sharks?
