Teaching Procedure:
Step One: Lead -in
Brainstorm1: what’s your native language? Can you speak any other languages?
Introduce languages in the world, such as Chinese, Russian ,En glish ,Spanish , Japanese, Tibetan ,French ,Arabic ,Greek, German.
Brainstorm2: Do you know how many languages there are in the world?
Do all the languages have their written forms?
Introduce the language for the blind an d the inventor of it.
Step Two: Speaking
Ask students the question: do you know other forms of languages?
show them emoticon and see if they know all of them.
Ask stu dents to think about what sign language is and show some pictures about it.
Summarize the different forms of languages: body languages and other means of communication.
Step Three: Further Discussion
Do animals have their own language to communicate ?
Have you ever seen the communication between animals ?
To brief introduce the animal languages.
Exercise: Guess the mood of the dog
Step Four: Group work
Organize Ss into small groups of four, encourge them to discuss the three questions listed under the five pictures on P21.
Have Ss exchange their opinions ,make sure each student has a chance to express himself.
Get several groups to report their responses back to the whole class.
