Step 1. Greetings and Lead-in
First, greet Ss and let them guess my last name by showing them an ancient character.
(This can introduce myself in an interesting way and pave the way for the introduction of the development of languages.)
Then, they will appreciate the poem 《Sonnet 18》with some old English words and enjoy the traditional English ballad《Scarborough fair》. I will ask them if they are puzzled about these words, So it can introduce the theme “English is changing all the time”.

Step 2. Skimming
Ss read the text quickly and answer the following questions .
