I. Brainstorming
1. Ask students several questions to arouse their interest.
Q: (1) How would you like to greet me when we meet in the school, street, or Xinjiang ?
(2)How do people greet each other in different countries?
Enjoy some pictures about body language.
以问候开头,拉近学生和老师的距离;通过图片导入,激发学生的兴趣也让他们明白肢体语言在不同的文化中有不同的含义,从而为接下来要写的中美肢体语言差异做好铺垫。
II. Task 1 collecting information
Step 1: Listening
In this part, students will
1. Read the table and predict what they mean in America.
2. Listen to the recording and finish the table on Page 33 to find out their American meanings.
这个听力训练,可以操练听的技能、更重要的是让学生了解常见身势语在美
国的含义,最终为写作任务积累素材。
Step 2. Surveying
In this part, students will
Go over the directions on Page 35 and make sure that they know what to do.
Use the first one as an example and finish the rest in pairs.
