本课的教学重点为,学生通过赏析文本文中描写火山爆发前有关庞贝城繁荣忙碌景象及描写火山爆发中有关火山云、火、人的句子,感悟作者的写作意图,明白生命的宝贵。学生通过赏析文本思考作者在描写过程中为什么使用大量体现感官的词语,并能切身感悟在自然灾害面前人类生命的脆弱,进而懂得珍惜生命的宝贵,努力学习,让自己的生活过得更有意义。
(二)教学过程
导入环节
基于锻炼学生获取、概括信息及描述的能力,笔者通过图片以问题链的形式激活学生的背景知识,让学生回忆起庞贝城因火山爆发被活埋。但在火山爆发前庞贝城是一个繁荣的城市,激发学生联想,用自己的话语描述庞贝城的繁荣景象。具体设计如下:
T shows Ss pictures about Pompeii and the Volcano and asks Ss 2 questions:
1. What happened to Pompeii about 2000 years ago?
2. What kind of City was Pompeii before volcanic eruption?
3. Can you imagine how rich and busy was Pompeii before volcanic eruption? Can you use some words to describe it?
在本教学环节中学生做出的回应:Pompeii disappeared because the volcano erupted. It was a rich and busy city. There were a lot of businessmen and many shops.
语言赏析环节
基于使学生描述庞贝的繁荣景象所用的词语、句型与文章作者的描述词语、句型形成对比,感受到作者文笔的细腻,各种词类和非谓语的互动;通过赏析语句勾勒出学生头脑中的画面,然后播放视频与学生头脑中的画面匹配及做补充;这么美的景色,然而远处的火山岩时亮时暗,让学生通过翻译不仅感受到语言的美,而且能预示火山就要来了。具体设计如下:

2. T invites Ss to imagine a picture that all kinds of ships and boats gathered together in the glassy water of the port.
3. T shows Ss a video about the busy and rich scene of Pompeii.
4. However, in the distance, the cloud-capped top of Mount Vesuvius appeared. Its ashy rocks, now dark, now light, told a story of past eruptions that might have warned the city what was to come!
