2. Ability objects
(1) To develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing
(2) To develop the students’ abilities of working in groups.
3. Emotional objects
By completing the task, the students can set up self-confidence in English leaning and the teacher will help the students to understand the meanings of 5-day social practice.
Teaching important and Difficult Points:
The important points are the definition of object complement, how to recognize object complement and the basic pattern of object complement.
The difficult points is how to use object complement in different situations, including completing a composition because it is abstract and difficult for students to understand object complement let alone finish a writing with it.
Teaching Procedure:
Step1 Lead-in
Show two teachers’ pictures and then ask them some questions about this topic: This beautiful lady is your Chinese teacher. I consider your Chinese teacher knowledgeable. This one is your Math teacher. What do you think of your Math teacher? Try to use the following sentence pattern to describe him: I find our Math teacher…, because… Finally, I will introduce the topic of this lesson.
The purpose of my design is to catch students’ attention about the lesson.
Step2 The definition of object complement
In this part, the teacher will give students 2 sentences to tell them which part is object complement, and then ask students to find another 2 examples in the last paragraph on page 43 from our text book. According the 4 examples, let students get the definition and the basic pattern of object complement.
Step3 Enjoy a short video clip and think about the following 3 questions:
1) What’s the name of the cartoon? 2) What happened in the video? 3) Do you know the result of the story?
Step4 Review and analyze
In this part, review the general idea of the whole story The Emperor and His New Clothes and then let students analyze which sentences include object complement.
Step5 Learn the contents of object complement by analyzing some details in the story The Emperor and His New Clothes
1) 含使动意义的动词, 所接的宾补多为动词原形或过去分词。let, have, make 等。
The Emperor got his clothes changed every few hours every day.
The two swindlers had the lights burning all night long.
2) v + sb. + to do sth. 结构中的动词, 所接的宾补一般是不定式。advise, allow, ask, beg, cause, expect, force, get, help, inspire, invite, order, permit, persuade, request, require, tell, teach, train, urge, want, warn, wish等
The Emperor expected the two “tailors” to invent a new cloth.
The Emperor ordered the parade to begin after he was dressed in his new clothes.
