Step 1: Lead-in
Let students watch a video and answer two questions:
What does the ad want us to do?
Do you remember its advertising slogan?
Step 2: Reading
1. Go through the text quickly and deal with some questions about its general idea .
2. Look at some pictures about the ads and let students judge which ad type it belongs to and explain the reason
3. Remind students that not all the ads tell us the complete truth.
Step 3: Reading strategy
Read page 3, and the teacher guides students to know the strategy of how to read expository writing.
Step 4: A game
Choose a number and solve the problems behind each number.
Step 5: Design an advertising slogan
After watching the video “Give earth a hand”, try to design an advertising slogan for our mother earth in groups.
Show the group work.
