Step 1 Watch and think
Show ss various ads and let ss consider what an ad is and summarize their types.
Step 2 Read and share
First, ask ss whether all ads are reliable and show them an ad with tricks. Read para 3 to find out more examples like this. Summarize how an ad tricks us.
Then, share my personal experience of being tricked by an ad and then let ss comment critically on the ads that have tricked them.
Next, let ss read para 4 to learn about the aim and examples of PSAs. Show a touching PSA and ask them to share their feelings.
Talk about the significance of helping others.
Step 3 Help and design
Show pictures to joke about how Jay is badly influenced by a milky tea ad and how popular milky tea is for us students.
Let ss think about the harm of milky tea and then work in groups to design an ad help classmates realize its danger.
Conclude how we should deal with ads in our daily lives.
