Step 1 : Warming up

Teacher shows a video and asks a question: What are the original forms of these five mascots?

Teacher gives some multiple choices to students to let them know the history of the Olympics.

Step 2: Reading for style and structure

Teacher gives ask-answer questions to let students get knowledge of the speech.

Step 3: Reading for details

Task 1

fill the blanks to let students know the history of the Olympic Games.(p2-4)

ask and answer question to let students know the significance of the Olympic Games.(p2-4)

review the content together and summarize the heroes of the Olympic Games.

Task 2

ask and answer two questions to let students know the details of the Olympic Games.(p5-8)

let students analyse the reason for the disappearance of the Olympic Games. (p5-8)

let students know the wish of the speaker at the end of the speech.(p9)

Step 4: Reading for challenges

Give students more time to think the reason for speaker’s mentioning so many famous athletes.
