The reading text----The Olympic Games is a speech given by Mr Johnsom, a member of the International Olympic Committee, who is visiting a high school in Beijing.In his speech ,he asks several questions. By answering them, the students can follow his train of thought.
2. Analyse the students
The students who are going to be taught in this period are relatively doing not very well in the subject learning as they are good at learning English.
They have already learned reading in Unit One and have got some experience of summary examples .However, I am still not too sure how good they are in doing summary because of their poor grammar and lacking vocabulary. But they are very hard working which makes them improve everyday.

How to understand the structure and main idea of the text.
Part II. Adopt the proper ways to conduct the classroom teaching work.
Right concepts in teaching can help us find the right, efficient ways to handle the classroom teaching work. So I will adopt the following ways in my classroom teaching.
Students’ experiencing and sensing the key words and summarizing the text themselves
This is a combination of reading and writing class. As for the question how to find the key word and sentences, there are different ideas and methods. According to the new concepts of language teaching, we should try to provide the learners with more example materials for them to experience and to get some idea of how the summary is formed. They can read and find the key words and sentences first and then change some words or sentences and then put them in paragraphs by conjunctive words.
In this way we can know how to summarize the text and learning as the process of mastering a special skill, just like learning how to use a tool.
Students-centred
We should always keep in mind that, in our classroom work, it is the students who are the centre and it is how the students can get something in class but not how we can finish the teaching work that matters. In language class we have to give the students more time or chances to use the language, to sense and find out how the language is formed and to practice the target language till they can use it themselves naturally. In this class, we should let the students practise more not the teacher.
To be a master of the textbook
We can rearrange the teaching contents even though the textbook arranges it this way: reading, grammar, task and project. We can connect reading with writing. We should spend more time in writing.
Part III. Design the detailed teaching plan.
After analyzing the teaching contents and the students, and deciding the teaching goals, we can design the teaching plan in details under the guidance of the new teaching concepts.
