【Teaching process】：
Step one: Lead in
Get students to talk about the Olympics .Present some pictures about sports to them and talk about some of them.
Step two: Listening and Fast reading：
Get students to listen to the text and get some basic information from it. Ask them to do the following True or False exercise

( ) 1.Entering a sport into the Olympics can be a long process.
( ) 2.Golf has been in the Olympics for many years by now.
( ) 3.Tae kwon do, now very popular, was first included in the Olympics in 2000.
( ) 4. If a sport is practised by men in 70 countries on four continents, it can be included in the Olympics.
( ) 5. It is likely that Wushu will get into the Olympics in the near future.
Step three Detailed reading
Get the students to read carefully and answer the following questions:
Reading: How does a sport enter the Olympics?
What requirements must be met before a sport can be considered by the IOC?
What sports have been removed from the Olympics? Why?
3. What sports have been added in the Olympics only recently? In which year?
4. What other sports will probably be included? Why?
5. Which sport is still trying to get into the Olympics?
