《Reading(1)：Stand up for your health!》公开课教案优质课下载
The reading passage is a magazine article about a popular form of comedy in the West. The article is made up of three sections, respectively focusing on types of stand-up, a famous comedian and the fact that laughter is good for people’s health. Students are expected to gain some knowledge about stand-up comedy and reinforce their reading comprehension. The reading strategy teaches students some basic skills of how to guess the meanings of new words from the context. Students are expected to apply these skills to practical use.
二、Teaching objectives:
By the end of this class, students will
gain some knowledge about stand-up comedy;
tell different types of stand-up;
learn something about Billy Crystal and make comments on him;
try to guess the meanings of new words from the context.

三、Teaching important and difficult points:
How to make students understand the structure of the passage and know well about the three sections in it.
How to help students to distinguish and pick out the relevant information using reading strategies they learned previously.
四、Teaching aids: a banana, three pictures and 54 exercise sheets.
五、Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead in
Have students pay attention to the title “Stand up for your health” and explain it. Tell them that for one thing, ‘stand- up ’ is a form of comedy, for another, ‘stand up for’ is a phrase, which means protecting or safeguarding something.
When explaining ‘comedy’, show students three pictures that are other forms of comedy.
