Step1 Preview “Welcome”（课前预习）
1 Read and memorize the new words from P1-5.
2. Read “Welcome” part, study the six pictures and think about the following questions
Q1: The girl is drawing by the river and creating her own pictures. Do you like drawing or creating things? Why or why not?
Q2: The girl is riding a roller coaster, which is exciting. Do you like to do exciting things? Why or why not?
Q3: The boy is reading under the tree. Do you think reading makes happy?
Q4: The boys are playing football and some girls are cheering them. Do you like taking part in sporting activities?
Q5: The family are having a family get-together. Do you enjoy spending time with your relatives?
Q6: The students are visiting a natural history museum, which can make them learn new things. What other ways do you think may help you learn more new things?

Step2 Preview the text（课前预习）
1. Understanding “Reading strategy”: Reading an interview
Read the short passage on page 19 and answer the following questions:
Q1. How can you read an interview more efficiently?
1) Scan the first paragraph to find out the topic. 2) Take note of who is being interviewed and what he or she does. 3) Try to think about the kind of opinions on the topic the interviewee might have. 4) Carefully read each question and try to understand it before reading the answer. 5) Pay special attention to the answer to the question about the background of the topic , which will help you better understand the topic.
2. Understanding the text:
1). Question: Skim the text and tell what the text mainly talks about?
The text is an interview from a TV programme about happiness. Ms Brain, a doctor who studies happiness, is interviewed in a television talk show and tells a story about a brave girl called Sang Lan.
