Today I will tell you a love story about one man and two women. The man is a prince, Calaf, one woman is a princess, Turandot, and the other woman is a slave named Liu. Here are some pictures of them.( Show pictures of the performance of Turandot)

Step 2 Fast-reading (Para 3-6)
1.Turn to page 18, we will listen to the story from paragraph 3 to 6 and pay attention to their relationships.(Listen to the tape)

Step 3 Detailed-reading(Para 3-6)
1.As a story, we should pay attention these five important elements: main characters, relationships, beginning, development and the end. Just now we have found its main characters and their relationships. Then we will focus on the beginning and the development of this story.
Read para 3 (ask the following questions about the beginning of the story)
(1) For Turandot, if a man wants to be her husband, what must he do? Why does she say that?
Read para 4-5 (ask following questions about the development of the story)
(2)It seems very dangerous. If Calaf can not answer 3 riddles, he will die. But why will he want to solve the riddles?
(3) Why does Liu help Calaf?
Read para 6 (ask the following questions about the end of the story)
(4)We know Calaf decides to answer the 3 riddles, and so he does. And does he answer the riddles correctly?
(5) Seeing this, what does Calaf say?
