III. Teaching procedures:

Step 1. A brief review.

Go over what has been learnt in this unit.

Step 2. Showing the task of the class.

Talk about some groups or organizations, and tell the students the task of this class.

Step 3. Finding out problems.

1) Read a news report from UNICEF, and learn some of the problems by answering 6 questions.

2) Use the information given to fill in the blanks of Table A and B, and remind the students to guess part of the answers if they are not mentioned. Check answers with group members after that.

3) Listen to the listening materials of table A and table B, and make necessary changes or take notes. Check answers together.

Step 4. Making suggestions.

1) Think about the problems the students can help solve.

2) Work in groups of 4 or 6, and work out solutions to the problems as many as possible.

3) Share and exchange the solutions with all the students.

Step 5. Writing a proposal.

1) Tell the students what a proposal should be like.

2) Work in groups of 4 and 6 to finish it together, and choose a report from each group.

Step 6. Presentation.

Have 2 to 3 groups present their proposal.

Step 7. Further discussion.

Ask the students to think about the remaining problems and present an example of a helping project.

Step 8. Homework.
