Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Lead-in and Reading:
Share an advertising video of Thailand and draw the students to this country. Introduce the present situation of the hill tribe children in northern Thailand to students, and the steps about how to help them.
Read a news report and answer some questions concerning the problems with their lives.
Try to fill in Table A and B using the students’ own words with the information provided .
Step 2: Listening for problems and causes
Listen and finish Table A and B.
Share some pictures about problems facing the children in remote areas in northern Thailand. And show them the measures the UNICEF has already taken.
Step 3: Group discussion and work out possible solutions
Discuss what students can do to help those poor children in northern Thailand.
Work out possible solutions.
Step 4: Writing a proposal to UNICEF
Show the format of a proposal.
Discuss in groups and write a proposal to UNICEF.
Have a presentation.
Step 5: Homework
