Step 1 Lead-in
1. Enjoy a song “Dream it Possible”.
2. Ask Ss the questions.
(1) What is your dream?
(2) What difficulties may you have to make your dream possible?
Step 2 Read for Patti’s experience
1. Ss read the article and answer the following questions.
(1) What was Patti's dream?(break the chains)Q: What do the chains stand for?
(2) What difficulty did she meet? (epileptic—physically disabled)
(3) How did she make her dream possible?
2. T divides the article into three parts and help them get the answer to the third question.
Part 1 How to set goals
Ss finish the flow chart and think “Why did the goals become bigger and bigger?“

Part 2 How to reach goals
a. Ss read and discuss the qualities of Patti based on what she did, giving evidence to support their conclusions. They may use the following sentence structure.
