Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Lead-in and Reading strategy
(1) Begin the class by showing students some pictures of transportation and ask them a question ‘When you travel to a beautiful tourist city,what kind of travel tools do you choose’?(ppt2-7)
(2) Help students to list information they will get from the brochure of the first underground in the world. (ppt8-11.)
Step 2: Skimming and scanning
Allow students two or three minutes to read the passage quickly and then summarize the main idea of each part with the guidance shown on the screen(two tasks). (ppt12-13.)
Step 3: Detailed reading
1. Ask students to read the first paragraph, and help them to analyze the reasons for the development of the first underground in the world. (ppt14-15.)
