Step 1 Lead-in
Ask the students to enjoy several photos taken by me. Ask them to tell us how many means of transport are mentioned in the photos.
According to their answers, we can turn to the topic of this lesson:Public Transport
Step 2 Different means of transport
Part A: How many means of transport in former times do you know?
Rickshaw/ Sedan-chairs/ Boat/ Carriage
Part B: How many means of transport in modern times do you know?
Buses/ships/coaches/the underground/high-speed trains/airplanes
(Six pictures in the textbooks.
Part C: Extension: How many other means of transport do you know?
car /hot air balloon/ ferry/taxi/ cab/motorboat/motorbike/ helicopter/ /tram/bicycle/ light railway/steam train/ minibus…
Step 3 Consolidations and a Competition
Ask students to read aloud and try to remember as many means of transport as possible:
rickshaw/ light railway/sedan chair/bus/coach/car /carriage/hot air balloon/ ferry/taxi/ airplanes/motorboat/motorbike/ helicopter/ship/ the underground/high speed train/boat/tram/bicycle/ steam train/ minibus/subway/metro…
After several minutes, divide the students into two groups (Group. A Vs Group .B) and ask them to think of as many means of transport as possible belonging to the following three categories: Transport: land/ air/ sea
The group which can write more words will be the winner.
