Analysis of Teaching Material
The Reading text is an essay about appreciating classic literature. It gives the definition of classic literature and explains why some people do not read it today. The
author also gives interesting facts about Charles Dickens and one of his most famous
books, Great Expectations.
学情分析
授课对象为南京市某四星中学高二学生44人。该班学生思维活跃、乐于参与和合作。学生英语能力呈正态分布,大部分学生能用英语提取信息、处理信息并表达自己的观点;但运用英语有条理、有深度地阐述深层内涵和批判性思维的能力略低。
教学目标
Teaching aims:
In this period, students are expected to
1. get to know what classic literature is;
2. get to know more about Charles Dickens and one of his representative works: Great Expectations;
3. learn how to appreciate literature;
4. learn how to write a persuasive essay.
Language Skills:
In this period, students will be guided to use skimming and scanning skills to obtain and analyze the needed information.
Reading Strategies:
The Reading strategy in this unit introduces and explains how to read a persuasive essay, an essay in which the author tries to convince the reader to adopt a certain point of view. Students are expected to improve their reading Skills by participating in the designated activities.
Learning strategies:
