3. Introduce Charles Dickens and his famous works to the students.
Step 2 Reading comprehension:
Fast reading:
Listen to the recording and ask students to skim the essay to analyze the structure and try to find answers to the following two questions:
1. What is classic literature?
2. Do the majority like reading classic literature? Why?
Careful reading :
1. Ask students to scan the essay and do some True or False questions.
2. Match the elements on the left with the correct examples on the right.
3. Fill in the blanks according to the passage.
Step 3 Discussion:
What does it really mean to be a gentleman?
Step 4 Homework:
1. Read the text again and try to retell the story of Great Expectations.
2. Think of some possible endings for the novel and write it down.
