Step 1 Lead-in : enjoy a song

Auld Lang Syne ( by Robert Burns)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot //and never brought to mind?   

Should auld acquaintance be forgot //and days of auld lang syne?   

For auld lang syne, my friends, for auld lang syne,   

We'll take a cup o' kindness yet , for auld lang syne.

Step 2 Appreciating the poem: listening and understanding

Listen to the poem and find out the old scottish words.

2. About the poet: What’s his nationality? What kind of person is he?

3. About the poem: Time: Language: Theme :

Structure: Rhyme:

4. About figures of speech: simile, hyperbole, repetition.

Step 3 Analyze and recite this poem:

A Red, Red Rose

O my Luve’s like a red, red rose That’s newly sprung in June;

O my Luve’s like the melodie That’s sweetly play’d in tune!

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass, So deep in luve am I;
