Step1.Warming up

1.Let students sing a song and play a word game.

2.Ask students about their favorite food.

Step 2 Prsentation

Show a photo of a student on the screen and get the other students guess who she is.

Ask the following questions:

What is her favorite food?

When is her birthday?

Today is a special day for her,it is her birthday.Let students help the birthday person finish the teacher’s tasks and get the special gift.

Step3.Read the article and finish six tasks

How do people eat their birthday cake?

Show four pictures and teach the new words and phrases,get students read

Find out the main idea of the article

Judge which sentence is T or F.

Read the article about food traditions and complete the chart.

Design a special birthday party for one partner in the group.

Step 4. To give a birthday gift to the birthday person

Teacher play a video and all the students sing Happy birthday to the student.

Step5.Emotion

First,teacher ask the students about their mother’s birthday and let them watch a video about love.

Let the students learn to express love on mother’s birthday.

Step 6.Homework

Write a passage about the birthday food in your hometown.
