Teaching Procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Share one of my personal stories. Ask students their own life experience.
(If you are going to do it, you have to do it perfectly.)
Step2 First Reading (para1-7)
Task1: Find the viewpoint
[I'm not ashamed of my incompetence in these areas. I do one or two other things well and that should be enough for anybody.]
Guess what these two phrases refer to. Then find the exact words used by the author. Conclude the author’s viewpoint.
Task2: Analyze examples
Figure out the correct order. Analyze them one by one. Focus on negative influences of serious attitude in hobbies.
Step3 Second Reading(para8-9)
Task1:Read suggestions
Read suggestions put forward by the author and then complete the summary of the passage.
Task2: Guess the ending and the title of the passage
Step4: Oral Presentation
